La maison Au bord du Canal

The house "Au bord du Canal" has a very nice view of the château of Chateauneuf en Auxois, a hill-top village classified as one of the prettiest villages of France.

On the other side of the canal, opposite of the house, runs the cycle path ‘la Voie Verte’. This paved path follows the canal for 212 km, good for very agreeable bike riding.

The private four-place car park is protected by a sliding electric gate. Bicycles can be stored in our secured bicycle shed. This shed has power plugs to easily charge your electric bikes and a water point. There also is fridge at your disposal.

Breakfast is served, weather permitting, on the canal-side terrace. There is a very good restaurant, about 15 minutes walk along the cana,l in Vandenesse. Or you can go up the hill to Chateauneuf en Auxois, here are various restaurants at different price ranges. By bike, (the hill is quite steep), or on foot (30 minutes), or by car. Please make a reservation before arrival !

The rooms are bright, spacious and comfortable, you will appreciate the themed decoration about Burgundy, the canal and boats. Actually, each room is named after an existing boat.

The rooms are equipped with an electric kettle for your tea or coffee facilities and a tv. All the four rooms have an ensuite bathroom with shower, washbasin and WC. The three double rooms Lily 17m2, Toiler 14m2and Elektra 17m2 have a view over the canal and the country side. The family room L’Etoile is on two levels, the double room of 18m2 and the room above of 15m2 with two single beds of 90x200. It has also an enclosed baby-bed, and baby equipment.

Directions

By bicycle

How to arrive by bike : From Vandenesse en Auxois, continue on the ‘voie verte’ for another 1,4 km. You will pass locks number 9 and 10. At the bridge, just before lock number 11 you will see a little sign ‘chambres d’hôtes Au bord du Canal’. It tells you to cross the canal, and to continue on the D18 in the same direction. The car/bike entrance is just after the bend on the left side of the road.

From Dijon you will pass Crugey on the voie verte. Continue to lock number 12. Here you will see a little sign ‘chambres d’hôtes Au bord du Canal’. It tells you to cross the bridge and to continue on the D18 in the same direction. The entrance is on your right hand side at 300 meters.

By car

From the autoroutes A6 and A38 : take exit Pouilly en Auxois, direction Autun/Arnay le Duc. At the roundabout (white cow) take second exit left, directon St Sabine. Keep going until you see the sign to turn left direction Vandenesse en Auxois. In Vandenesse en Auxois, before you cross the canal, turn right onto the D18 direction Crugey and follow the light green signs. After 1600m you will see the ‘Chambres d’hôtes Au bord du canal’ on your left.
